Marriage of Stone and Glass

The meeting of stone and glass on concrete has rarely looked so harmonious.

Date - 2025 Location - Montreal, Quebec, Canada

Some may call it a clash. Others may call it harmony. But no one is left untouched in the Old Port of Montreal.

This part of town is home to some of the city’s oldest buildings, some more than 250 years old. As the city evolved and its population grew, these historic figures began to share the landscape with more modern buildings — and with a more modern way of living.

This photograph captures what I can only describe as a marriage. The Old Port of Montreal stages some of the city’s most interesting architectural contrasts: the idea that the old can stand next to the new, without either one disappearing.

To me, this is the definition of heritage.

This is Montreal.
